Born in New Jersey, and raised in North Carolina, founder and principle of Wealthbridge Financial Advisors, Tim Randle is not your average money guy.

Military Background

The first thing that immediately separates him is his military background. After attending Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, he joined the United States Army in 1993. He served with the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, NY until 1996. In addition to attending Winter Weather School, Lightfighter School, the Joint Readiness Training Center, and the Jungle Operations Training Center at Ft. Sherman, Panama, Tim deployed to Haiti for four months in support of Operation Uphold Democracy. Attaining the rank of corporal, he was selected to work as an instructor for the United States Military Academy’s summer leadership development program (for two consecutive summers), teaching West Point cadets who would later be his peers.

But that was just the beginning for this overachiever.

Tim returned to North Carolina and earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Appalachian State University, while also attending ROTC classes and serving in the National Guard. He worked at the Broyhill Convention Center and, as is typical for Appalachian State ROTC cadets, worked at Appalachian Ski Mountain in the winter. Upon graduating, he also earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant and attended Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. His next assignment was 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia. After serving there as the Tactical Intelligence Officer and participating in two National Training Center rotations, he was assigned to the 103rd Military Intelligence Battalion, serving as the Headquarters Executive Officer and the Battalion Maintenance Officer. While there, Tim deployed to Bosnia in support of Stabilization Forces eight and nine. Upon return, he transitioned to the Oregon Army National Guard and attended Initial Entry Rotary Wing training (flight school) at Fort Rucker, Alabama.

Transition to Finance

Tim’s official transition to the financial world happened in 2002, after his return from his nine-month deployment in Bosnia. His wife Carly was working as an office manager at a financial planning firm. Tim established a friendship with her boss, who asked Tim what he’d planned to do after his stint in the Army. Tim went under his wing, quickly learned the business and worked for First Command Financial Planning in Enterprise, Alabama. He was soon promoted and moved to Huntsville, Alabama. Since then Tim has earned his Certified Financial Planner™ designation, further studying retirement and estate planning through the Chartered Financial Consultant®. He is also a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®.

When asked why he would end a promising military career and focus on the world of financial planning, Tim answered as any natural born leader would.

“I love this country and all it has to offer people who work hard. I also love working with people. I happen to have a gift – which I took the time to hone into a skill – and it’s more than my desire to share that gift and skill…it’s my responsibility.”

Tim’s financial advising acumen (and skill) has led to the launch of Wealthbridge, garnered him an impressive client portfolio, and he quickly earned a reputation as a trusted financial advising source for the higher net worth sector. His professional formula for managing the myriad layers involved in helping everyone from the single parent to the family of four is simple: educate; establish stability; help build wealth; create a legacy. It’s that simple formula (one from which he refuses to deviate) that has catapulted Tim to the top of his field.

“At the end of the day, people need a financial advisor who will tell them what they need to hear; not what they want to hear,” said Tim. “I’m certainly that guy, and Wealthbridge certainly is that paradigm, but I’m also a husband and father. I know what it’s like to be completely invested in the financial health and future of other people. I believe in people living well in the present, and building for the future. When it’s done right, it can be done simultaneously. It really is about creating a winning financial legacy for generations to come.”

Because of his relationships within collegiate and professional sports circles, Tim co-launched the Wealthbridge Sports and Entertainment division alongside Wealthbridge Financial Advisors. It was an inevitable move, as he lives in arguably one of the most sports-rich regions in the country, and has earned the trust of retired NFL players.

But for Tim, it’s not about flash. While his ambitions are lofty, his focus is grounded in humility and rooted in the discipline of his military training. If he had to compare himself to a character from the iconic film “Top Gun,” he quickly answers, ‘Iceman.’ Because, even though the movie ends with Maverick winning a battle, everyone knows ‘Iceman’ was the most steady, consistent and reliable aviator of the bunch. I’ll take steady, consistent and reliable over risky every time.”
